For EACH of the 4 videos listed in the Week 8 Module:
- Identify the activities and behaviors of the 3 stages of a rite of passage: separation, liminality, and incorporation, using specific examples.
- What is the purpose of the ritual in the culture?
- How do these rituals serve to reaffirm gender roles or ideologies?

SWORN VIRGINS AND BASHA POSH
After reading the 2 short articles and watching the 2 very short videos about Albania’s Sworn Virgins and Afghanistan’s Bacha Posh, you can see the intersection of kinship and gender.
- What are the functions of both these traditions in the culture’s kinship system or structure of ideology of family and gender roles?
- How do the traditions uphold it and reflect gendered power relations, gender roles, and gender identities?
Must use specific examples from all of the required articles and videos.
WITCHCRAFT
After reading the Witchcraft PowerPoint and the short articles and videos,
- Critically discuss social factors and events that contribute to the belief in witches.
- Examine commonalties and why witch persecution has existed through time and globally.
- What does it say about gender norms, roles, or ideologies?
